Sunburst and Prayers of the People

The art hanging in the sanctuary today was inspired by our Sermon Series "The God Who Creates". The sunburst pattern and the rainbow colors are meant to suggest scripture passages from Genesis 1:3 and 9:13.
The materials used were the prayer slips that our congregation wrote and contributed several months ago. The paper slips were cut, shaped, and pieced back together to create something larger and different (which is often what our Creator God does with our prayers!)
Nancy Langham would like to express her gratitude for everyone who contributed written prayers. Assembling this art turned out to be a profoundly spiritual experience for her. Each prayer was literally in her hands for a while, and the spirit of each prayer resonated with her as she worked with it. She is grateful to God for leading her to this faithful community, which is so willing to pray.
